Job Overview:
This role will drive continuous safety improvements through training, audits, and active engagement with plant employees. The Specialist will partner with the Corporate Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) team to execute safety programs and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Corporate EHS to implement safety programs and initiatives.
- Act as a safety resource, promoting a culture of safety through communication and training.
- Conduct safety audits, observations, and risk assessments.
- Manage the Observation Tracker and Safety Action Register.
- Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide coaching on effective incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Ensure timely completion of incident documentation and corrective actions.
- Analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Maintain knowledge of safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, and PPE.
- Facilitate industrial hygiene monitoring and implement corrective actions if necessary.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Corporate EHS on safety management processes.
- Develop and conduct employee and supervisory safety training programs.
- Coordinate employee health services, including hearing conservation and respiratory protection.
- Promote operational safety and environmental compliance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide location-specific Environmental, Health, and Safety regulatory compliance.
- No direct reports.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proven leadership capabilities.
- Strong training facilitation skills.
- In-depth understanding of OSHA and ANSI compliance.
Working Conditions:
- Requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and standing.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Exposure to workplace hazards including moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, noise, and chemicals.
- Required use of safety equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, apron, and gloves when necessary.
