FORKLIFT OPERATOR
PRIMARY PURPOSE & FUNCTION:
Responsible for operating various forklifts to lift, move, position, and reposition loads. Depresses buttons, lifts levers, and ensures load is safely positioned before movement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate forklift under general supervision.
- Manipulate or depress forklift controls to regulate speed and direction of forklift and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
- Inspect forklift for safety issues and general readiness on a daily basis.
- Determine if any parts are malfunctioning.
- Lift, position and place machinery, equipment or other large objects at EPS Facilities.
- Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
- Follow directions carefully.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
General
- Minimum one year of experience at Shorebase
- Knowledge of oilfield tools and containers
- Able to work Shift work
- Must be able to work with limited Supervision
- Excellent planning and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be a Team Player
- Knowledge of capabilities of forklifts
- Knowledge of regulations governing transportation of materials
? Technical
- Must possess a valid driver?s license.
- Must be able to demonstrate safe operation of equipment.
- Must be able to travel safely to locations.
- Possess a valid rigging certificate, TWIC card, Water Survival, Safe Gulf and any other certifications that the client determines necessary.
Physical Capabilities
- Physical strength and ability sufficient to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time, sometimes under dirty and uncomfortable conditions and in all kinds of weather. Heavy labor is defined, for example, boosting to height of head 50-pounds and height of waist 100- pounds, climbing up and down ladders and stairs repeatedly, standing on your feet for 12 hours at a time, carrying 100-pound sacks for short distances.
- Physical strength and stamina to work 12-14 hour tours. Also requires tolerance for the heat and cold.
- Ability to work at heights.
Other Capabilities
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Flexibility to respond to emergency 24 hour shift requirements for calls in from off duty hours.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school degree or equivalent is preferred.
Additional training may be required in order to meet company or customer standards or expectations.
