Job Summary:
As an Employment Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in their journey toward employment success. You will provide guidance, training, and mentorship to job seekers, helping them develop essential job-related skills, build confidence, and achieve their employment goals. You will work with diverse clients, including those with disabilities, career changers, and individuals re-entering the workforce, offering personalized support to ensure they find, secure, and retain meaningful employment. In this role, you will meet with participants regularly both remotely and in person in various Colorado communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one career counseling and job search assistance, tailored to the unique needs of each client.
- Assist clients in identifying career goals, developing job search strategies, and creating resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles.
- Conduct workshops and training sessions on topics such as interview skills, communication in the workplace, and professional etiquette.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local employers and organizations to facilitate job placements and internships for clients.
- Assist individuals with disabilities, veterans, and others who may face challenges in the job market, ensuring they receive appropriate accommodations and support.
- Provide ongoing support to clients after job placement, helping them adjust to their new work environments, address challenges, and develop long-term career strategies.
- Track clients’ progress, maintain detailed records of coaching sessions, and prepare reports to demonstrate outcomes and success rates.
- Serve as an advocate for clients in the workplace, working with employers to ensure inclusivity and accessibility.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in career counseling, human resources, social work, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Employment Support Professional, Career Coach certification) are a plus.
- Preferred 2 years of experience in job coaching, career counseling, workforce development, or a related role.
- Experience working with individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with clients from various backgrounds.
- Knowledge of local labor markets and job search strategies.
- Proficiency in resume writing, interviewing techniques, and career planning.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Working Conditions:
- Will require travel to job sites, employment fairs, or in the community.
- Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate clients’ schedules.
