Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import/Export Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for managing the logistics of international shipments, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing supply chain processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation management and supply chain management, with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Determine accurate Import-Export classifications and ensure adherence to country-specific harmonized tariff schedules.
  • Monitor U.S. imports for timely customs clearance and proactively resolve discrepancies.
  • Work with government agencies like CBP while handling duties related to free trade agreements and quota management.
  • Prepare and submit drawback ruling requests to U.S. Customs. Monitor and respond to ruling summaries.
  • Interface with purchasing, supply chain third party consulting services and customers to streamline import export processes.
  • Accurately classify HTS Harmonized Tariff Codes for key Import shipments.
  • Process duty drawback claims on behalf of customers and host clients.
  • Maximize the drawback program by presenting strategies which can expand the opportunity for refunds.
  • In-depth experience with U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR) and FTZ-Foreign Trade Zones.
  • Manage daily import activities and coordinate with customs brokers, vendors, customers, and freight forwarders.
  • Oversee end-to-end FTZ processes, from daily transactions to auditing records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

1. Language – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. The ability to effectively present information and respond questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

2. Mathematical – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.

Associate Art Degree or comparable business experience working in import – export logistics.

- Four (4) plus years working with U.S. Customs and/or other international trade regulatory agencies.

- One (1) plus years of experience working with U.S. Foreign Trade Zones program including compliance and best practices.

- Three (3) plus years’ experience classifying Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a key focus towards auditing and reviewing documentation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $31.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
