Position Summary
The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our company’s financial records. This position supports the accounting team in daily operations, including preparing financial reports, performing reconciliations, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Essential Functions
The Staff Accountant works in an onsite office setting. They spend most of their time at a desk using a computer for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
Standard working hours are typically 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. However, additional hours are common during peak periods, such as month-end or year-end closings, tax season, or audits.
The role generally involves low physical demands, such as sitting for extended periods, occasional light lifting (e.g., paper files), and frequent computer use.

- General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, manage collections, and oversee reconciliation of accounts to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Bank & Account Reconciliations: Conduct regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts by gathering data, analyzing trends, and providing insights.
- Compliance: Ensure all financial practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including timely reporting of taxes.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of accounting operations.
- Audit Support: Prepare documentation and assist in audits by providing requested information and addressing inquiries.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support the accounting department and overall financial health of the company.

Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the transportation or healthcare industries.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across departments.
- High integrity, proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
