Optical Lab Technician
Express Vision is looking for a skilled optical lab technician with excellent product knowledge and customer service skills. The candidate must have experience in making, selling, and dispensing glasses. Our patients and our service are of the utmost importance to us! Preferred applicants will have a minimum of 2 years as an optical lab technician. Our office is open Monday-Friday with a half day on Saturday and closed on Sundays.
9:00am - 6:00pm Monday’s - Friday
9:00am - 3:00pm Saturday
The ideal candidate is a friendly, punctual, dependable, professional, hard working, patient oriented individual who is a team player and can multitask. Candidates who are proactive, have great customer service, and can take initiative are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform all lab duties including but not limited to: ordering and receiving eyewear, edging lenses, final inspection and quality control, status updates and notifications and product dispensing.
- Identify and work with basic optical laboratory equipment, tools, supplies, and materials
- Consistently adhere deadlines for finishing jobs
- Correctly read and interpret prescription specifications and input into computer properly to ensure lenses are cut properly
- Maintain the lab area and equipment in a safe and organized manner
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly lab equipment maintenance as scheduled and in accordance with lab/equipment manual specifications
- Read, comprehend and follow technical manuals and protocols
- Read and interpret prescription specifications
- Periodically compare pricing among labs to ensure maximum net profit (protect the bottom line).
- Use both lab and optical knowledge to develop problem-solving abilities that will allow for efficient and effective troubleshooting of patient complaints.
- Understand and execute our values and policies to provide an excellent customer service and experience.
- Ensure all supplies for the lab remain organized, easily accessible, and fully stocked.
