As a Residential Building Envelope Inspector, you will work independently daily. Attention to detail, flexibility, and an ability to follow instructions is the key to success. Inspections require following a set process. You must be willing and able to follow the inspection protocol, follow a written report process, and be open to feedback and direction. You also must have the ability to communicate your findings to others in a clear and concise manner.
This is not an ordinary punch a time clock type of job. There will be times when evening or weekend work is involved. We value work/life balance!
Summary:
The Residential Building Envelope Inspector is responsible for inspecting the exterior components of residential buildings to ensure that they are in good condition and meet code requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building envelope construction and be able to identify and resolve potential problems. This is an entry level position with a starting pay range as listed. Pay increases are based on completed training, work performance, and length of employment.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect the exterior components of residential buildings, including the foundation, walls, roof, windows, and doors.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports that document findings and recommendations.
- Interact with property owners, contractors, and other stakeholders to communicate inspection findings.
- Stay up to date on the latest trends and developments in building envelope construction.
- Oversee the quality of building envelope inspection work.
- Plan daily inspection route, communicate with scheduling dispatchers, and communicate with building superintendents in completing daily inspection assignments.
- Communicate with office to update work progress and report delivery.
- Ensure that inspections are conducted in conformity with established company procedure and protocol.
- Participate in all company training and development programs, book studies, and seminars.
- Develop strong understanding of building envelope construction principles and practices.
- Daily driving requirements throughout Austin and San Antonio
Qualifications:
- High school degree with work in related field OR degree in construction science or a related field (preferred).
- Texas Real Estate Commission License (this is a preferred requirement)
- Building code certification (this is a preferred requirement and must be obtained within 18 months of initial hire date).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Computer literate and able to learn new software to create and review reports.
- Self-starter with good time management skills and attention to detail
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license with a good driving record, and current auto full coverage auto insurance
- Spanish-speaker (a plus)
Physical Demands:
- The ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- The ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- The ability to work in various weather conditions.
Work Environment:
- The work environment is typically outdoors, travel to construction sites, travel with occasional overnight stays.
- The work environment may be noisy and dusty.
