Summary
As a Labor Economist at SHRM, you will have the opportunity to conduct research, analyze data, and produce insights that inform policy decisions and industry strategies. This role emphasizes rigorous data analysis and creative problem solving in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Conduct research on a wide range of issues in labor economics.
Collect and analyze data from various sources, including government datasets, surveys, and academic literature.
Prepare charts, graphs, and other visualizations to illustrate key findings and trends.
Author research reports, whitepapers, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
Collaboratively develop and lead projects and initiatives within the Labor Economics team, and serve as a subject matter expert on economic issues across the organization.
Provide quick-turn analysis and economic insights to partners across the organization.
Stay current on economic trends, policy developments, and industry news to inform research activities and discussions.
Education & Experience Requirements
Education:
Masters degree in economics / quantitative social science required (Ph.D. preferred).
Experience:
Post-graduate experience working in a fast-paced environment that demands a wide variety of research output, ranging from quick-turn economic analysis to full-scale research reports.
Significant experience managing research projects preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets.
Expert-level proficiency in the statistical software package Stata, as well as high proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel). Additional experience in other statistical software packages (e.g., R, SPSS) desirable.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
Ability to lead research projects.
Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, intellectually-stimulating environment.

Employees must maintain availability during standard business hours and adhere to company policies for both in-office and remote work.

The hiring range for this position is $88,000 to $123,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
