The BI Data Architect is responsible for developing and administering the collection, mapping, and utilization of data to support decision-making across the ExtraMile Convenience Stores organization. This role oversees the structure of the data environment and the framework for how data is collected, stored, and used. Some of the key responsibilities include managing and designing the BI backend infrastructure utilizing the Microsoft Azure platform (both Databricks and Fabric), ensuring data quality, and reliability. This role also involves a focus on data-governance, scalability of BI systems, and aligning processes for long term utilization.

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Hybrid environment of remote and in office. Occasional On-Site Office Visits as Needed.

Some of what you’ll do as a BI Data Architect:
- Develop and maintain the overall BI architecture, including data models, data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics platforms.
- Ensure scalable and efficient data systems that support organizational reporting and analytics needs.
- Design and oversee ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to consolidate data from multiple sources into unified structures.
- Optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and accuracy.
- Implement and enforce data governance policies, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security
- Comply with legal and regulatory requirements regarding data management and privacy.
- Assess and recommend BI tools, data platforms, and technologies to improve data architecture.
- Stay updated with industry trends and innovations to enhance BI capabilities.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field: required, Master’s Degree preferred.
- 3 years of extensive experience in a Data Architecture, BI Developer, or a similar role.
- 3 years of proficiency in BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data warehousing tools (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift). Experience with Azure and Databricks/Microsoft Fabric.
- Practice operating independently without the need for continuous oversight or direction
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to anticipate issues before they arise, and proactively suggest big-picture solutions
- Possess excellent communication with a friendly can-do attitude!
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with several priorities while being flexible to shift priority
- Demonstrated ability to investigate and weigh alternatives and select appropriate course of action, driving activity to measurable results
