Step into the innovative world of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) as a BIM/VDC Design Intern. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of site-specific VDC activities, cutting-edge technologies, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools. Work alongside experienced professionals to support the integration of virtual design into real-world construction projects.
Explore Your Tasks And Responsibilities
Support VDC Implementation:
- Collaborate with the Lead VDC Coordinator and Technology Lead to introduce and implement new VDC technologies onsite.
- Assist in modeling and manipulating Building Information Models using software such as Autodesk Revit or Civil 3D.
- Conduct field walks to support reality capture operations using tools such as 360-degree cameras.
- Perform laser scanning operations with advanced laser scanners as needed.
- Help team members access, view, and analyze field progress data collected through reality capture technologies.
- Work with advanced BIM and VDC software, including Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and Civil 3D, as required.
- Engage with reality capture hardware, such as scanners, drones, 360 cameras, and robotics, to enhance project visualization and accuracy.
- Spend time on active construction sites, supporting field operations and gaining real-world insights into construction and design processes.
- Experience using Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, or Civil 3D.
- Familiarity with reality capture hardware (scanners, 360 cameras, drones, robotics, etc.).
- Prior experience on live construction sites.
- Physically able to spend 3-4 hours per day in the field.
- Technically inclined and quick to master new software and hardware.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Junior or Senior standing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
- Previous internship experience in a project team environment is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and VDC tools is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and passion for contributing to innovative construction projects.
