Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Optical Lab Technician to join our team after retirement of our long time trusted lab technician. In this role, you will be responsible for correctly interpreting prescription specifications and input all information to various computer software such as Vision Web, in order to bill and order glasses. We average 400-500 per month however all products are manufactured off site, however upon arrival, all finished products must be inspected and our clients notified. You will be responsible for ensuring that final product meets the required specifications that were ordered and meet our high quality standards. You will work closely with optometrists and opticians, utilizing your knowledge of optics to resolve occasional issue that arise from non fitting frames so being able to adjust frames is highly recommended. This position requires a strong understanding of optics and proficiency in various vision insurances.
Responsibilities
- Order, ship and inspect glasses according to prescribed specifications.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure lenses meet industry standards and were manufactured according to original order.
- Collaborate with optical professionals to understand specific patient requirements as it relates to frame adjustments
- Provide exceptional customer service in retail settings, assisting clients during dispense or interacting with outside labs as needed
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory orders including tracking numbers and assure proper billing from outside vendors
- Ensure speed and reliability of services
- Stay updated on advancements in optical technology
Skills
- Proficient in vision insurances and laboratory procedures.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in retail environments in order to interact with patients during adjustments and dispensing
- Willingness to learn and adapt to fast pace private practice
- Experience in billing and ordering
- Diligent record keeping within EMR to assure that all information is entered and ordered correctly
- Perform multiple concurrent tasks such as ordering, dispensing and adjusting
- Ability to verify lens specification using manual or auto lensometer

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
