Surgery Scheduler Responsibilities:
- Schedule patient surgeries or tests as ordered by physicians.
- Coordinate medical procedures, ensuring proper provider and time/location slot.
- Enter notes and special instructions into the electronic medical record.
- Utilize clinical knowledge to ensure appointments align with provider’s diagnosis.
- Provide patients with detailed information regarding surgery preparation, arrival times, and directions.
- Respond to patient inquiries and take appropriate actions.
- Confirm insurance provider and obtain prior authorization.
- Ensure proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing.
- Complete pre-procedure phone calls and confirm appointments with patients.
- Assist department members as needed, maintain and file patient charts.
- Answer phones, take messages, transfer calls, and schedule appointments with other physician offices.
- Schedule tests and procedures with physicians or hospitals, and prepare patient referral forms.
Surgery Scheduler Qualifications:
- Previous front office or medical office experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
