We are looking for friendly, energetic ophthalmic assistants to fill available positions. Assistants must be able to balance quality customer care and time management. We are looking for strong team players that want to support the staff, fellow techs, doctors and Patients especially.
Qualifications
- Candidate must have an upbeat positive personality, is articulate, maintain excellent customer service and multi-tasking skills
- Must be punctual and keep pleasant/positive appearance and attitude
- Reliable transportation to travel between various office locations as needed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathetic personality giving attention to patient’s needs and concerns
- Detail oriented; reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
- A self-motivated work ethic and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Bilingual - Spanish speaking is not required but is helpful
- previous experience in ophthalmology, patient work-up, tonometry, refractions, A-scans, Visual Filed Testing, Optic nerve scanning (i.e OCT, HRT, GDx)
Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting in the care, treatment, and education for ophthalmology patients
- Obtain patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications
- Conduct patient screening, patient communication & education, obtain patient history, document in EHR, maintain patient confidentiality, and maintain exam rooms and inventory
- Preparing patients for examination, performing diagnostic testing, visual acuity, and intraocular pressures as directed by a physician
- Work collaboratively to maintain efficient patient flow
- Perform visual acuity, auto-refraction, manual lensometry, and Tonopen tonometry tests
- Check pupils, extra-ocular muscles, confrontational fields and inserts eye drops for dilation
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment, including cleaning/sterilization as necessary
- Assist with patient triage, correspondence and feedback
- Complete administrative duties as necessary to prepare for clinic

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Phoenix, AZ: Central Phoenix to North Phoenix, able to cover at all offices if needed
Experience:
- Ophthalmology or Optometry trained (experience will dictate starting pay)
Language:
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
