Qualifications
- MINIMUM: High School graduate or GED
- PREFERRED: 1-2 years of experience in patient care, specifically optometry
- PREFERRED: 1-2 years of experience in retail, customer service, or sales
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude in working with co-workers and patients
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and timely, both verbally and in writing
- Task management, ability to see a variety of tasks through to completion
- Time management skills, ability to prioritize and work quickly and efficiently when there are multiple customers/patients to assist
- Ability to deal with stressful situations, such as dissatisfied customers and schedule delays and changes
- Exemplary customer service and interpersonal skills
- Team player, strong willingness to help other staff
- Confidentiality, discreet with protected health information (PHI) and knowledgeable of HIPAA Privacy Rule
- Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, reach, climb stairs, and stand for prolonged periods of time to assist customers/patients

- Flexibility in task assignment from day to day
- Ability to retain information and quickly grasp new concepts
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the opticians in the lab and dispensary:
Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that best suit their needs
Take necessary measurements (i.e. patient’s pupillary distance)
Input orders and patient information into Revolutionehr
Compute and process payments through Weave
Submit and process insurance claims
Inspect final product for accuracy
Dispense glasses to patients and educate patient on how best to care for their glasses
Provide exceptional customer service
Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotion as well as policies regarding payment, returns, and exchanges
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the product boards in the dispensary
Stock and straighten merchandise
Work with small manual tools (screwdriver, pliers, etc.) and heat to complete frame repairs and adjustments
- Provide clerical and administrative support as needed:
Answer telephone, take messages, and return voicemails
Schedule appointments
Obtain and enter demographic, insurance, and financial information into Revolutionehr
Greet and check-in incoming patients
Assist with the billing/collection process
OTP pre-appointment confirmations and intake interviews
- Provide support to the technicians as needed:
Assist techs to care for patients in a timely, effective manner
Perform activities involving patient care, pre-testing, post-exam duties, FDT testing
Perform a preliminary evaluation of patients prior to exam (i.e. dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, ect.)
Perform verbal interviews with patients to determine medical issues and reason for their visit prior to exam
Communicate patient information effectively with Techs and Optometrists
Schedule referral appointments and complete the appropriate paperwork
