Job Type: Up to 40 hours/week
Preferences:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in the ophthalmic medical field preferred
- Experience in optometry or medical assisting beneficial
- Knowledge of medical terminology anatomy and physiology of the eye helpful
- Current CPR certification preferred
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred but we are willing to train the right person.
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, and possess problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Commitment to the highest standard of professional conduct
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
Work environment:
1. Daily operation of exam room equipment: hand-held instruments, muscle light, retinoscope, direct and indirect ophthalmoscope, biomicroscope (slit lamp), Goldmann tonometer, phoropter and in office projection screen and/or EDTRS screen.
2. Daily operation of various diagnostic equipment: manual and automated lensometer, auto-refractor, ocular coherence tomography, corneal topography, A-scan and B-scan ultrasonography, corneal pachymetry and non-mydriatic retinal imaging.
3. Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
4. Ability to assist patients, as necessary, into exam chairs for diagnostic testing and treatment
5. Ability to maintain confidentiality in the performance of duties
6. Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner
7. Ability to work collaboratively with members of the EMG team and support a positive EMG Culture
