A/R Specialist is responsible for calling all insurance companies and utilizing online resources to check claim status, resubmit claims as necessary via paper or electronically, file appeals, track denial trending, resolve denials, and ensure maximum revenue capture. In addition, this role will facilitate timely receipt of payments and ensure balances on accounts are correct and appropriately prorated. 

Eyecare Services Partners will now only consider candidates who can verify prior to hire that they either have been fully vaccinated against the Covid 19 virus or have started the vaccine process by having their initial dose before starting in their new position and are committed to completing that process within 30 days of starting work.

Responsibilities

• Create insurance claim batches and process daily
• Review claims and make necessary corrections prior to submission to payor
• Prepare claim resubmissions, appeals and reviews
• Research correct ICD and CPT codes to receive payment for rejections
• Contact patient when necessary to obtain correct information needed obtain payment
• Contact insurance companies to determine the reason for claim rejection and take the necessary steps to rectify any discrepancies before resubmitting the claim for payment
• Partner directly with practice level personnel to obtain the additional information needed to correct a claim for resubmission to payor
• Meet deadlines as communicated
• Maintain a well-organized filing system for all batches
• Execute duties of position in a professional and courteous manner
• Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
• Provide assistance within the department as requested
• Respond to all patient and insurance inquiries in a timely manner
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
• 1 year of Optometry and Ophthalmology third-party billing guidelines and expertise.

Experience:

• Three years of professional medical billing and collecting experience, or certification obtained from a nationally accredited billing program, i.e., CMBS (Certified Medical Billing Specialist)
• One year of patient collection experience
• Experience with Excel and Windows-based programs
• Experience in performing tasks that require a basic understanding of accounting and math skills
• Experience with NextGen PM/EHR preferred but not required
