Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Crisis Counselor to provide on-site face to face intervention with a team of professionals to assist individuals and family members experiencing a mental health crisis. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a deep understanding of behavioral health, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments. This role is structured as a PRN position that provides flexible scheduling, and enhanced pay when dispatching to provide intervention in the community.
Duties
- Conduct assessments to determine the needs of clients in crisis and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to individuals and families, utilizing techniques such as motivational interviewing and behavior management.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of client information.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in hospital settings, particularly in acute care environments, to facilitate comprehensive care for clients.
- Offer guidance and support for child family counseling, addressing the unique needs of children and their families during crises.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to crisis intervention and behavioral health.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum requirement of High School Diploma with at least 2 years relative mental health experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients quickly.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor.
- Proficiency in medical documentation practices and adherence to HIPAA standards.
- Previous experience in crisis counseling or related fields is highly desirable.
