We are seeking a Purchasing Manager to join our team! You will be responsible for the direct purchasing of materials necessary to complete operational projects.
Job Title: Purchasing Manager
Job Summary:
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of raw materials, supplies, and equipment required for the manufacturing process. This position involves strategic sourcing, supplier management, inventory control, and cost optimization to ensure the smooth flow of materials necessary for production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Management:
- Identify and establish relationships with reliable suppliers of raw materials (e.g., metals, alloys, and other components).
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure favorable terms and ensure cost efficiency.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure the quality, timeliness, and reliability of deliveries.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to maintain high standards of compliance, quality, and ethical sourcing.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor stock levels and forecast material requirements to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Implement inventory control practices to optimize stock rotation and reduce waste.
- Manage safety stock levels to prevent production delays due to material shortages.
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely delivery of materials based on production schedules.
- Purchasing and Cost Control:
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials.
- Analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and new materials to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Review and approve purchase orders, ensuring they meet company standards for cost, quality, and delivery.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, monitor purchasing expenditures, and optimize cost reduction initiatives.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and quality control teams to ensure materials meet production needs and quality standards.
- Work with senior management to define purchasing strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery and storage of materials.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier agreements, and inventory levels.
- Prepare and present regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, inventory status, and supplier performance to management.
- Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve the purchasing process for efficiency, cost reduction, and enhanced supplier relationships.
- Implement best practices in procurement and stay updated on industry trends and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal manufacturing.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Proficient in using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and procurement software.
- Knowledge of materials used in metal manufacturing (e.g., steel, aluminum, etc.) and understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in procurement (e.g., CPSM, C.P.M.) or supply chain management.
- Experience with cost modeling, forecasting, and supplier relationship management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
