We are seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team at a leading structural steel fabrication business in Pleasant Grove, UT. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of welded structures according to industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. This position requires strong technical knowledge of welding processes, inspections, and non-destructive testing methods to maintain the highest levels of quality and safety.

- Conduct visual welding inspections and ensure all welds meet AWS D1.1/D1.5 and project specifications.
- Verify welding procedures (WPS) and welder qualifications in compliance with AWS, AISC, and project requirements.
- Inspect weld quality, joint configurations, and preheat/post-weld conditions for structural steel components.
- Identify and document non-conformances, defects, and deviations; recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed inspection reports, welding logs, and quality documentation.
- Work closely with fabrication teams, project managers, and engineers to resolve welding and quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies during welding operations.
- Participate in pre-production meetings to discuss welding standards, project requirements, and quality expectations.
- Train and mentor welders on best practices, techniques, and quality improvement measures.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) (Required)
- 3 years of experience in welding inspection, preferably in structural steel fabrication
- Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1, AISC standards, and industry codes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings
- Familiarity with welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW)
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for reporting and tracking inspection data
- Excellent problem-solving skills and communication abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial fabrication environment
- Additional NDT certifications (MT, UT, PT)
- Experience working in an AISC-certified fabrication shop
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Quality Control methods
