OSP Construction Manager

We are looking for an experienced and motivated OSP Construction Manager to join our team and oversee the installation of fiber optic networks in various locations. As an OSP construction manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, project managing, and supervising the construction activities of fiber optic cables, conduits, poles, splice cases, and other related equipment. You will also ensure that the projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. To be successful as an OSP Construction Manager, you should have a strong background in fiber optic network design and construction, as well as excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. You should also be familiar with the relevant codes, regulations, and industry best practices. You will report to the VP of Construction and Engineering and work closely with Construction Coordinators, managers, engineers, technicians, contractors, and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall planning, execution, and completion of OSP fiber optic network construction projects.
  • Develop and foster relationships with cities, counties, HOA’s and water districts.
  • Lead the construction staff by setting clear expectations and holding employees accountable in a consistent and fair manner.
  • Recruit, hire and train construction inspectors and coordinators.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope, schedule, budget, and specifications.
  • Monitor and control the project progress, quality, and costs, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Handle employee relation issues, including performance management, coaching, and training.
  • Ensure that the construction activities comply with the company policies, customer requirements, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Supervise and mentor the OSP construction staff and contractors and provide them with technical guidance and support.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, audits, and tests to verify the quality and safety of the work performed.
  • Monitor and maintain the payroll process including approving timecards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, reports, records, and invoices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, methods, and best practices to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the OSP construction operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, telecommunications, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in OSP fiber optic construction.
  • Knowledgeable in fiber optic network testing equipment and procedures.
  • Familiar with the OSP construction standards, codes, regulations, and safety practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel frequently to various project sites.
