Job Title: Manager – Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Regulatory
Location: 1/2 hour East of Philadelphia
Travel Requirements: 50-75% (Domestic & International)
Position Summary:
The Manager of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Regulatory is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive EHS strategy across global operations. This position ensures regulatory compliance in both domestic and international markets and drives Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. The role requires regular interaction with teams at all levels to promote a culture of safety, compliance, and sustainability across all sites.
Key Responsibilities:
EHS Strategy Development & Execution:
- Design and implement a strategic EH&S program aligned with global business operations.
- Establish EHS goals and programs for each site and business unit.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts in EHS performance across all sites.
Product Safety & Compliance:
- Lead product safety compliance programs, including hazard labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and regulatory product registration.
- Manage product risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
Regulatory & Environmental Compliance:
- Monitor regulatory changes and guide internal teams on compliance.
- Ensure operations meet regulatory requirements, including waste management, water permits, and air quality regulations.
- Oversee environmental and safety audits and corrective action plans.
EH&S Reportable Events:
- Provide leadership for reportable EH&S events, ensuring effective corrective actions.
- Manage regulatory reporting and compliance for incidents.
ESG Program Facilitation:
- Lead the design and development of ESG initiatives, focusing on sustainability and risk mitigation.
- Promote corporate social responsibility programs.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Work with site leadership to develop EHS and ESG objectives.
- Provide mentorship on EHS strategy execution.
- Partner with HR, Facilities, and Operations to integrate EHS best practices.
EHS Auditing & Program Management:
- Conduct audits to assess EHS performance and compliance.
- Manage waste management programs and vendor contracts.
- Review and oversee corrective actions from audits and inspections.
Emergency Response & Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response programs for all facilities.
- Regularly audit and update emergency preparedness plans.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the primary liaison on safety and environmental matters with customers and regulatory bodies.
Reporting & Communication:
- Manage the EH&S reporting system to meet internal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide updates to legal counsel and executive management on EH&S and regulatory matters.
Regulatory Liaison & Compliance:
- Manage relationships with regulatory agencies and oversee compliance reporting.
- Lead efforts to comply with regulatory requirements and oversee documentation.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Collaborate with Operations, Facilities, HR, and Legal to maintain EHS and regulatory compliance.
- Work with procurement to manage indirect purchasing related to EHS compliance initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Travel: 50-75% to global manufacturing, distribution, and laboratory facilities.
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Proven experience managing global EHS and regulatory compliance programs, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Preferred Requirements:
- Industry Experience: Manufacturing experience, especially in coatings, chemicals, or industrial sectors.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations at global, federal, and state levels.
- Leadership Experience: Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing large-scale compliance programs.
Physical Requirements:
- Minimal physical activity, extensive computer use (up to 8 hours per day).
- No unusual environmental, lifting, or exertion requirements.
