Join Our Team as a VMI Specialist

The VMI specialist role will focus on sales-driven forecasting and vendor managed inventory to support a key strategic customer with a complex portfolio of SKUs. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate forecasts and ordering, current inventory with customer needs, and fostering collaboration across teams to meet customer expectations and business goals.

About the Role

• Develop and manage rolling sales forecasts using historical data, market trends, and customer insights, providing short- and long-term demand projections while assisting with daily orders based on inventory and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Analyze sales trends and market conditions with advanced tools to inform forecasts, creating reports and dashboards to highlight variances, trends, and recommendations for internal stakeholders.
• Support internal teams in program activation and discontinuation, coordinate variances with customer teams, and collaborate with customer service on order changes.
• Work closely with the sales team and customers to understand demand drivers, serving as the main contact for customer-specific demand planning and fostering collaborative relationships.
• Align forecasts with procurement, production, and logistics teams, proactively communicating forecast changes to ensure smooth operations across functions.
• Monitor forecast accuracy (e.g., MAPE), identify improvement gaps, and stay updated on industry best practices to enhance demand planning processes.
• Identify potential supply-demand imbalances, propose risk-mitigation strategies, and develop contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• 3-5 years in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain roles, preferably within the fresh food or CPG industry.

Skills & Abilities

• Experience supporting large customers with complex product needs (e.g., multiple SKUs or components).
• Advanced proficiency in demand planning software (e.g., SAP APO, Blue Yonder, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of Excel, statistical analysis, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Experience with fresh or perishable products.
• Familiarity with Walmart and Trader Joe’s or similar retailer operations and forecasting processes.
