Position Overview:
Provides direction and management of sanitation operations. Ensures compliance with company sanitation procedures. Ensures use of machinery, lifts, chemicals and tools are used in accordance with company policies. Ensures that sanitation is documented and recorded.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain inventory of sanitation supplies. Rotate stock as required.
- Ensures that all equipment is in safe and operating status. Ensures that any issues are addressed and corrected in a timely manner.
- Schedule staff for proper sanitation before releasing areas to production staff.
- Work with Plant Manager to ensure that sanitation goals are met, including efficiency, hours, costs and safety.
- Supervise sanitation crew and perform evaluations.
- Conduct training and safety meetings as necessary. Conduct disciplinary action as needed
- Ensure that department is completing paperwork as necessary and in a timely manner.
- Supervise and ensure that warehouse is cleaned on a regular basis including waste disposal as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Manager
- Any problems or issues reported to Plant Manager. Issues related to food safety reported to QA Manager as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School diploma required.
- Previous experience in sanitation required and professional level training in food safety, such as HACCP Certification.
- Previous managerial experience required.
- Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to have full repetitive use of both hands and fingers, i.e. simple grasping
- Able to use hands to manipulate tools or controls, and to talk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Ability to regularly lift 27 to 30 lbs. for most positions; for stackers and dumpers, must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Occasionally be required to sit
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to observe fruit on conveyors in continuous motion
- The noise level in the work environment is usually high
- Earplugs must be utilized
- Must be able to work in a very cold environment
- Temperature may vary depending upon the seasons (summer, winter)
