Job Description
The Quality Manager will oversee all aspects of quality management in our fabrication and powder coating processes. This individual will ensure that all products meet or exceed company and customer standards, while promoting a culture of continuous improvement. The role also includes implementing and managing safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
The Quality Manager will be responsible for quality plans, inspection, testing, measuring equipment control and calibration, maintaining records, and ensuring that the requirements of the quality system are implemented and maintained. Responsibilities will also include verification and evaluation of quality improvement activities, corrective and preventive action solutions, and reporting on quality system performance to senior management to ensure quality system improvement.
Job Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 55 lbs on your own and up to 70 lbs with a team lift or equipment assistance
- Ability to walk, bend, stoup, crouch, kneel, climb, stand for 10 hours
- Ability to work in high temperatures
- Ability to communicate needs and concerns in a timely manner
- Ability to read and understand process sheets
- Ability to hear horns, buzzers, and an intercom page, and respond accordingly
- Ability to wear proper PPE-eye protection, gloves, and steel or safety toe shoes or boots
- Ability to recognize differences in metals, welds, bends, and any contamination within the products
- Ability to recognize any disconformities in different parts
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Ability to use and understand MIE (MRP system)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and create a quality program, execute quality standards based on quality manual
- Follow production schedule and identify any urgent or new parts and ensure quality standards are identified and met
- Create and maintain Process Sheets for new and/or revised parts
- Initiate RCCA’s as defined in the process manual
- Positive influence on entire team culture/ shop floor moral
- Responsible for rework turns within 1 week
- Inspect incoming and outgoing supplies
- Perform first article inspection on all parts
- Conduct regular audits of production processes, equipment, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes to address quality issues and prevent recurrence
- Work closely with production teams to monitor product consistency, identifying trends and areas for improvement
- Read and understand blueprints and specifications
- Measure products with one or more of the following tools to ensure customer standards are being met"
- Rulers
- Calipers
- Gauges
- Micrometers
- Determine if a product is accepted or rejected and approve for shipment or remove product from production
- Discuss any discrepancies with those responsible for the products disconformities
- Report inspection test data to operations managers
- Report any discrepancies in products to operations managers and/or the Senior Operations Manager
- Report any broken equipment or tools to operations manager in a timely manner
- Return the nonconforming product to the proper department as defined in the process manual or as allowed/specified by the customer
- Verify process sheets for each part, and notify operations manager when one is not available, or changes need to be made
- Communicate clearly with other coworkers to ensure that any non-conforming parts are removed from the production area
- Identify and verify the following:
- Part numbers/names
- Inconstantly manufactured parts
- Initiate process improvements
- Keep work area organized and clear from unnecessary debris
- Maintain inventory of necessary equipment related to the inspection of parts, and not mix parts from other equipment
- Lead the development and implementation of safety programs related to fabrication and powder coating processes
- Monitor workplace safety conditions and enforce adherence to safety regulations
- Ensure all employees are trained on safe work practices, personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency response protocols
- Maintain up-to-date safety documentation, including training records and incident reports
