Job Summary:
An established commercial general contractor is seeking an Architect with a passion for construction management to join our team. This role is ideal for an architect who wants to transition from a traditional architecture firm to a construction-focused role, where they can be actively involved in both project execution and design/build initiatives. The Architect / Construction Project Manager will oversee commercial construction projects, assist in design development, and ensure seamless integration between architectural intent and on-site construction.
Key Responsibilities: Construction Management Duties:
- Oversee day-to-day construction activities to ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Manage submittals and specification compliance.
- Manage subcontractors, trades, and suppliers, ensuring alignment with architectural design and specifications.
- Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and local authorities to facilitate approvals and compliance.
- Conduct site visits to identify and resolve field conditions that impact design and construction.
- Review and interpret architectural drawings, ensuring constructability and cost-efficiency.
- Support estimating and procurement teams with material selection and cost analysis.
Design & Build Duties:
- Assist in the early design phases of design/build projects, developing conceptual plans, feasibility studies, and schematic designs.
- Utilize CAD, Revit, SketchUp, or other design software to create and refine drawings, ensuring compliance with local building codes and regulations.
- Work with clients to develop and refine project designs that align with budget constraints and construction realities.
- Provide value engineering recommendations to enhance project efficiency and cost savings.
- Collaborate with structural, mechanical, and civil engineers to integrate building systems seamlessly.
- Prepare and manage construction documents, permitting packages, and as-built drawings.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
- Experience: 1-5 years of experience in architectural design, construction administration, or project management.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, , and project management software (Procore, MS Project, or similar).
- Strong understanding of building codes, construction techniques, and materials.
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a plus.
- Knowledge of cost estimating and value engineering preferred.
