Title: 2nd Shift Lead Interiors Technician

Reports to: Interiors Site Leader

Direct reports: None

Summary: Accomplish various repairs, refinishing, and component assembly of business aircraft interior components/systems under minimal supervision with emphasis on superb quality and craftsmanship. Responsible for the direction and oversight of Interiors Technicians within the assigned work area.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform the repair and rework activities on non-conforming parts in accordance with the Repair Work Instructions and applicable standards and specifications. This may include mechanical adjustment and/or replacement of parts using various fastener types including drilling, riveting, torque-controlled fasteners, and other mechanical systems. Trimming, fitting, potting, cutting, gluing various material types including leather, fabric, Ultraleather, and composites as necessary. Route and fasten wiring, tubing and other systems throughout the cabin as needed. Clamping and securing parts to fixtures. Light composite work and light painting may be required. Removal and installation of Interior components including sidewalls, doors, monuments, and seats. Refurbishment of veneers and finishers. Touchup and reconditioning of leathers and ultraleathers.
  • Perform inspection of parts received, identify defects, and repackage as necessary to protect the product for further damage.
  • Check availability of materials needed and coordinate requirements with supervisor.
  • Record rework information as required including hours, part identification, responsible person and actions taken on provided documents.
  • Provide rework documents and parts to inspection upon completion. Perform any additional work necessary to obtain final approval. Pack parts for returning to customer.
  • Accomplish all work and maintenance with superb quality within budget and scheduled timeframe.
  • Perform maintenance, cleaning and daily 5S work in the area. Maintain tool-accountability for tools and ensure their upkeep and calibration as required. Take immediate corrective action regarding any unsafe or unfit conditions.
  • Occasional travel to alternate work sites may be required.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Lead Duties

  • Assign tasks to individual team members assuring that they have the necessary skills and understand the specific requirements.
  • Provide training and oversight as needed to ensure the work and documentation are completed correctly.
  • Monitor and approve individual team member timecards and labor allocations.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

In addition to the responsibilities above, the Lead will prepare the overtime request for their areas weekly, create tie-ins between the shifts, review tools and tooling requirements and generate purchase recommendations to be provided to management. Production Leads also track the nonconformance created in their area(s) to ensure they are completed and closed. Production Leads report to the Production Supervisor.

Required Skills

  • Use of hand tools, operating sanders, scrappers, drills, saws, table router, pneumatic tools and other similar equipment.
  • Precision drilling and installation of various blind and mechanical fasteners using various tools.
  • Skills in mechanical adjustment and/or upholstery repair.
  • Computer Skills for accessing drawings, spreadsheets, and documents, including email and online systmes such as engineering portals, SharePoint, and ERP System.
  • Accurately read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, drawings, engineering orders and other documents.
  • Organizational skills, including daily tracking of priorities and work status, are required.
  • Sense of urgency and the ability to respond quickly to customer requests.

Preferred qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED AND two (2) years as a business aircraft interiors technician OR
  • Three years relevant and related business aircraft interiors experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience and training.
  • Embraer or Bombardier aircraft experience a plus.
  • Airframe license is desired.
  • Experience leading a team of 5 individuals is plus.

This position requires the use of vision up close (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and at a distance (clear vision at 20 feet or more), the ability to identify and distinguish colors, peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up, down or to the left and/or right while the eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships), and the ability to adjust focus.

Work environment: The Interiors Technician performs work in a production environment and may regularly be exposed to dust and heat. Occasional exposure to loud noise (e.g., drilling) and fumes or airborne particles should be expected. Minimal exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals is present. Personal protective equipment may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour
