The following vacancy exists in Goshen Community Schools for the 2024-25 school year:
GCS - Facilities
Painter
POSITION PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Director of Facilities/Assistant Director of Facilities, the incumbent is a member of the Maintenance team that performs general maintenance repairs as Painting, drywall patching and carpentry to provide a clean pleasant appearance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare wall surface by cleaning or other means necessary to allow a proper paint application.
- Use appropriate paint types and techniques for applying paint to different surface types and materials.
- Monitors computer-based work ticket program daily to receive and update assigned maintenance tasks.
- Confers with Assistance Director of Facilities regularly for information, exchange (special scheduling of work), updates, and feedback related to facility maintenance.
- May perform minor repairs (e.g. drywall repairs).
- Uses powered lifts, ladders, scaffolding when necessary to accomplish above ground level work.
- Uses powered equipment or other for seasonal snow removal or as assigned.
- Gains on-going familiarity and knowledge of computer systems through training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Prior experience in painting and general maintenance preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Demonstrate ability to understand and implement prescribed safety processes and procedures.
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with other staff.
- Ability to solve practical problems.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram formats.
- Under the direction of supervisor, demonstrate an ability to set up and arrange their own work, referring only unusual cases to supervisor.
- Demonstrate responsibility in planning time, methods, and/or sequence of performance of own work.
- Demonstrates ability to determine or select the most applicable way of handling situations; also, to determine or select the most appropriate material and equipment.
WORK CALENDAR: 52 weeks; up to 260 days per year; 30-40 hours per week
SALARY: $19.00-$20.20 (Schedule #37-3)
