The Project Manager II is a mid-level project management role responsible for leading complex projects, managing cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful execution from conception to completion. Building upon the foundational experience of Project Manager I, this role requires greater autonomy, leadership, and expertise in project budgeting, scheduling, stakeholder management, and process optimization.
The Project Manager II will take ownership of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring profitability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction while mentoring junior project managers and field personnel.
Responsibilities
As an FSG Smart Buildings Project Manager II, you will:
- Lead and execute multiple large-scale projects, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and progress reports.
- Coordinate with internal teams, including engineering, design, procurement, and field operations, to align project execution with customer expectations.
- Monitor project performance through KPIs, metrics, and financial tracking, ensuring profitability.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance project efficiency.
- Act as the primary point of contact for key customers, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
- Conduct regular customer meetings, site visits, and progress reports to maintain engagement.
- Mediate and resolve escalated customer concerns, ensuring satisfaction and project success.
- Collaborate with sales teams to support project estimation, customer presentations, and solution development.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and vendors to ensure cost-effective and high-quality project execution.
- Oversee project teams, providing guidance, setting expectations, and resolving challenges.
- Train and mentor junior project managers, field personnel, and subcontractors to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Conduct post-project reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement lessons learned.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including change orders, financial records, and compliance reports.
- Ensure all projects adhere to safety, regulatory, and quality assurance standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- 3 years of experience in project management, preferably in electrical, Smart Buildings, BAS, EMS, or construction-related fields.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management).
- Strong ability to lead project teams, manage schedules, and oversee budgets independently.
- Experience in customer relationship management, vendor negotiations, and contract oversight.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Google Docs.
- Ability to read and interpret contracts, technical drawings, and project schematics.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel and stay overnight up to 25% based on project needs.
Preferred:
- Experience with EMS/BAS solutions such as Tridium/Niagara, Siemens, Honeywell, or JCI.
- Background in construction management, facility management, or electrical/mechanical engineering.
