What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher-Functional Skills (Grades 5-12) position at Fair Grove R-X?
We are currently accepting applications for a teaching position within our special education department for the 2025-2026 school year. This teaching assignment primarily teaches functional skills.
Primary Tasks and Major Activities
-Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEP's)
-Provide direct, specialized instruction for students grades 5-12
-Perform student individualized assessment and interpretation.
-Teach life skills, academic skills, and exhibit strong skills in behavior management
-Administer MAP-A assessments
-Collect and record progress monitoring data on a frequent basis
-Initiate and complete all required paperwork and hold meetings within established timelines
-Communicate and collaborate with appropriate staff and parents regarding student programing
-Supervise and give guidance to all paraprofessional(s) assigned to your classroom or working with students on your caseload
Qualifications:
-Special education certification
-Degree in special education preferred
-Prefer previous teaching experience in a classroom working with students with high needs
Fair Grove is an outstanding school district located just north of Springfield, MO.
