The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the administration and management of Nursing Services to residents in accordance with orders of the physicians and total needs of the residents. As the DON, you will be responsible for 24-hour supervision of Nursing Services and will direct the Nursing Department to maintain quality standards of care in accordance with current Federal, State and Company standards, guidelines, and regulations. In the absence of the Administrator, the Director of Nursing (DON) assumes the responsibility for center operations. The position conducts the nursing process – assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation – under the scope of the State’s Nurse Practice Act of Registered Nurse licensure. Your Job
- Treat and care for residents and their property with dignity and respect.
- Work cooperatively with healthcare team members to maintain established standards of care.
- Manage patients' data and medical records as confidential records.
- Communicate with doctors, patients, and family members about patient health.
- Ensure the nursing unit is compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Train and onboard new nursing staff.
- Implement new procedures and train Nurses on policies.
- Assist with the care planning process. Develop/implement quality assurance and risk management programs.
- Make daily rounds to direct employees' work, observe for hazards, work duty problems, and ensure services are delivered to clients consistent with needs.
- Assist with continuous quality improvement and corrective follow-up actions.
- Complete other duties at the discretion of management.
DON Requirements
- Currently licensed as RN in the state practiced.
- Associate or Bachelor Degree from an accredited nursing school required.
- At least 2 years nursing supervisory experience required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Superior project management and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated success in operational process improvement and performance management.
