Job Overview
The Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) is seeking Project Managers who, under the direction of the CEO, will help diversify and strengthen the Fairbanks North Star Borough economy and improve the quality of life of its residents. Ideal applicants will be self-motivated, result driven, team players who have strong analytical skills, solid verbal and written communication skills, and a passion for community improvement. Experience in business development, economics, report writing or grant acquisition / management preferred. Marketing experience, including website and social media management, as well as print and graphic design, are also beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction and guidance of the FEDC President & CEO, Project Manager will assist with an assortment of economic development research, advocacy, direct service delivery and special projects.
Typical Duties will include:
- Diligently pursue fruition or implementation of policies and projects to protect major local industries, pursue emerging commercial opportunities or achieve defined community economic development goals, as directed by the FEDC Board and President.
- Full-cycle project and grant acquisition and management.
- Full-cycle contract negotiation, implementation, oversight and resolution.
- Manage and coordinate programs and activities in furtherance of Projects.
- Research and data compilation/analysis in furtherance of Projects.
- Research and data compilation/analysis in furtherance of community, regional and state economy.
- Monitor and analyze local, state and federal administrative and legislative actions, initiatives and programs, and local, state, national and international economic indicators, for assessment of likely impacts and formulation of mitigation or capitalization strategies.
- Identify, evaluate, analyze and/or pursue economic development opportunities.
- Public policy and statutory analysis in furtherance of Projects.
- Formulation, singularly or through collaborative processes, of recommendations regarding public policy, statute and/or regulation.
- Provide input and guidance to local, state, and national boards, commissions and agencies.
- Acquisition, from private and/or public sources, of project development funding and finance.
- Relationship building and partnership cultivation with public and/or private, non- and/or for profit entities in furtherance of Projects.
- Meeting preparation, coordination and facilitation, and back-end reporting.
- Consensus building and conflict resolution in furtherance of Projects.
- Creation of regular reports and presentations for the Board of Directors and local, state, and national oversight entities in furtherance of Projects.
- Creation and delivery of FEDC-related presentations to stakeholders, civic organizations and the general public.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in operation of personal computers (Microsoft Word and Excel preferred).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Social and web-media proficiency
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and questions, and handle multiple tasks using independent judgment.
- Ability to deal with the public and other entities such as the University of Alaska and local, state and federal governmental institutions in a tactful, courteous, and pleasant manner.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
