GRANT SUMMARY
The goal of the Athabascan Behavioral Health Clinic project is to transform the community behavioral health system by providing comprehensive, coordinated behavioral health care. The Clinic provides culturally specific programming, strength-based services, community-wide engagement, evidence-based practices, and early intervention.
POSITION SUMMARY :
This position is responsible for providing mentorship, peer counseling, and support services for consumers within the Athabascan Behavioral Health Clinic Project using the Athabascan Recovery Model of traditional Athabascan Values of love for children, family unit relationships, self-sufficiency, care & provisioning for family, practicing of Native Traditions, respecting wisdom from life experiences, respecting Elders and others, promoting spirituality, and sharing & caring of community.
JOB DUTIES
- Facilitates Talking Circle in a traditional way in alignment with treatment schedule.
- Shares lived experiences with consumers and families.
- Shares experience with navigating mental health system.
- Provides consumer support.
- Supports consumers during their treatment experience providing positive feedback and hope.
- Works in both outpatient units of the clinic : mental health and substance misuse.
- Ensure adherence to data collection requirements and enters accurate and timely data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Attends mandatory position training that provides training in risk factors as designated by Project Manager and / or Clinical Supervisor.
- Maintains consumer confidentiality in accordance with 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPPA.
- Attends all required staff meetings.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 25 lbs. Most of the work is performed in an office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. The office is a non-smoking facility with outside smoking areas. The work may require local travel between various programs of FNA which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Works in an environment where protection of client confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided where / when needed.
SPECIFICATIONS
Driving Requirements :
This position will require you to frequently drive your personal vehicle for FNA business. To drive your personal vehicle for FNA business an individual must provide a copy of their current Alaska Driver's License and a copy of their proof of personal liability insurance. No employee may transport a FNA consumer in a personal vehicle.
Supervision Received :
Position receives direct supervision from the immediate supervisor; however, incumbent is expected to effectively perform day-to-day activity as denoted within job description. Work will be monitored through weekly meetings, monthly reports, and regular communication with the manager. General guidelines for operations are based on program requirements and the general policies and procedures of FNA.
Supervision Exercised :
Position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Position Impact :
Impact at the program level is high. Program's level of compliance with program standards is directly affected by the effective performance of duties, especially as they relate to providing services to divisions and programs.

Contacts include staff, management, and program clients, external Evaluator, and funding sources.
