Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice Nurse to provide high-quality care to patients in a hospice setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a deep understanding of end-of-life care. As a Hospice Nurse, you will work closely with patients and their families to ensure comfort, dignity, and support during this critical time.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' health status, including vital signs and diagnostic evaluations.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and preferences.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV insertion and airway management when necessary.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding the hospice process and available resources.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care effectively.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic health records (Epic) to ensure continuity of care.
- Perform procedures such as venipuncture, spinal taps, and basic life support as required.
- Stay informed about workers' compensation law as it pertains to hospice care.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license in the state of practice.
- Experience in a Level II Trauma Center or similar healthcare environment is preferred.
- Proficiency in vital signs assessment, basic life support, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
