Position Type : Student Support ServicesDate Posted : 9 / 10 / 2024Location : Fairfield County Educational Service Center Date Available : ASAPTitle : Truancy Case Manager Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in social work, education, or a related field Experience working with children, families, and in social services Experience in case management, counseling, or related fields (preferred) Knowledge of attendance laws / regulations, social work principles, intervention / prevention strategies, and community resources Strong leadership, assessment, interpersonal, and communication skills Required criminal background check Meets USCIS I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Valid Ohio Driver's License Reports To : Superintendent / Designee Job Goal : Responsible for providing case management services to students at risk of truancy across assigned Fairfield County school districts. The Truancy Case Manager will collaborate with schools, families, and community organizations to develop and implement intervention strategies that address the root causes of absenteeism, ensuring compliance with state attendance laws while promoting student well-being and academic success.Performance Responsibilities : Interpret and apply the Ohio Revised Code, court rulings, and school policies related to attendance. Review and analyze attendance data to identify students at risk of truancy. Collaborate with schools, attendance officers and families on the implementation of plans to improve attendance. Monitor the implementation of early intervention and / or intensive case management plans, adjust plans with stakeholder input, as needed. Inform families of the legal implications of truancy and collaborate on preventive measures. Extensive collaboration with attendance officers and social workers on shared cases to ensure alignment of interventions and supports. Conduct assessments of families with attendance issues and perform home visits as necessary. Serve as a liaison between schools, courts, social services, and law enforcement agencies. Refer cases to Attendance Officers to initiate and participate in legal proceedings related to enforcing state attendance laws, as needed. Assist in the transition and monitoring of students transferring between school districts. Maintain comprehensive records of interventions, referrals, and compliance efforts. Utilize a personal vehicle for work-related travel, including home visits, school meetings, and court appearances. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent and / or Designee. Required Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Other Responsibilities Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Ability to independently generate and manage correspondence and reports. Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all professional matters. Additional Working Conditions Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue. Occasional operation of vehicle under inclement weather conditions Occasional alternative / flexible hours / days. Frequent travel. Occasional interruption of duties by staff and / or telephone. Occasional interaction with aggressive, disruptive, and unruly children, and may have to assist with behavior modification. Supplemental contracts or compensation may be awarded by the district for additional duties and responsibilities, at their discretion. Note : The above lists are not ranked in order of importance.
