What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrative Bailiff-Domestic Relations Court position at Fairfield County Ohio?
The Fairfield County Domestic Relations Court is seeking applications for the position of full-time Administrative Bailiff. This position is responsible for maintaining the docket, acting as a liaison between the Judge and Magistrates, attorneys, law enforcement, court staff, and the public, and coordinating daily courtroom activities. Under the supervision and direction of the Chief Bailiff, the Administrative Bailiff is responsible for the administration and enforcement of Court security and courtroom decorum.
Acts as a Court Security Officer for the Domestic Relations Court; maintains courtroom order; announces Magistrates, sessions, and cases; calls and swears in parties and witnesses; records court sessions; logs events of court sessions; processes court recording requests; secures and maintains all admitted evidence; pulls case files from, and returns case files to, the Clerk of Court’s Office; files court documents and disseminates copies to the proper parties; receives and disseminates drug and/or alcohol testing results to the proper parties; regularly evaluates building security; provides recommendations for security improvements to the Chief Bailiff; performs any other tasks necessary to ensure the efficient operation and security of the Court.
High school diploma or the equivalent; Associate Degree in criminal justice preferred; at least three years of experience in the criminal justice system or law enforcement; experience as a bailiff preferred.
Candidates for this position must possess strong oral and written communication skills; the ability to make firm and sound decisions; knowledge of the criminal justice system, court procedures, laws, and search and seizure procedures; the ability to identify and handle potential problems; the ability to deal with the public; the ability to obtain firearm certification and meet annual qualification requirements; extensive knowledge and understanding of the Use of Force/Firearms Policy; experience with computer software applications including Microsoft Office; the ability to organize and to work independently; in-depth knowledge of organizational policies, operations, and Court procedures; the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
