The Fairfield Inn & Suites Charlottesville Downtown/University Area, is looking for Front Desk Associates to join our team! You will be a crucial team member to ensure a successful and satisfactory guest experience!
We are currently primarily hiring for 1st shift (7am-3pm) and 2nd shift (3pm-11pm) but candidates able to work all shifts, including 3rd (11pm-7am) will be considered first.

The Front Desk Associate is responsible for representing the property’s service commitment to guests. Assist our guests efficiently, courteously and professionally in all front office related functions to maintain standards of service and hospitality. Perform all tasks according to Minimum Performance Standards. Handles guest’s check-in and checkout, reservations when required, incoming telephone calls and maintains status of rooms. Fulfills the duties of the traditional desk clerk position with greater emphasis on service to the guest and up selling of hotel services. The ideal individual for filling this position is a vibrant, “upbeat”, and outgoing person who can relate to guests appropriately and handle their needs efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide the highest quality of service to guests at all times.
· Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
· Greet and register guests and provide room assignments accommodating special requests whenever possible.
· Check guests in and out of the hotel according to hotel standards
· Verify daily revenue activities and occupancy status
· Enter detailed information regarding daily transactions into necessary reports for accounting purposes
· Complete all audit functions accurately and in a timely manner
· Maintain accurate data in computer property management system
· Inform guests about the hotel's facilities, policies, and procedures, as well as provide area information
· Take, modify, and cancel room reservations via telephone
· Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints
· Perform cashier duties, post charges to guest accounts
· Receive and transmit mail, phone and written message for guests (in absence of voice mail system).
· Answer inquires pertaining to hotel services, shopping, dining, entertainment and travel directions.
· Assist guests in obtaining information. Call airlines, rent-a-car companies, etc.
· Post room and tax, food and beverage, phone charges; compute guest bills using PMS.
· Maintains positive communication with accounting department.
· Notify the General Manager of any unusual incident as instructed or otherwise deemed necessary regarding operation and/or safety and security of the hotel or guest.
· Transfers charges and deposits to master accounts and close necessary accounts at month end.
· Prepares final reports of all daily revenue summaries.
· Maintain a log of items borrowed from the front desk and deliver items when necessary, i.e. Irons/ironing boards, blow dryers.
· Communicate effectively with other departments as necessary
· Other duties assigned by management.
