POSITION TITLE: Hospital Billing Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Business Office

STATUS: Full Time, Non-Exempt

HOURS: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday - Friday

SALARY RANGE: $20.00 - $28.00

NATURE OF WORK:

The Hospital Billing Specialist is accountable for timely and accurate filing of claims as well as the collection follow-up of outstanding insurance balances. Pursues claim resolution along with preparing refunds for credit balances. Insurance denials are investigated, and appeals are submitted as appropriate. Collects patient payments, sends letters to patients, and answers patient's billing questions. Assists in other areas of the business office to serve patients in an efficient and customer-oriented manner. Engaged in revenue cycle and works with leadership in ways to improve processes. Timely and accurate work produced is vital.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

Previous medical billing and follow-up experience preferred. Experience with multi-line phone system, general office equipment, computer software programs including word processing, internet usage, and email required.

SKILLS:

Team player willing to assist in meeting organizational goals. Excellent keyboarding, communication skills and customer-oriented approach to others. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment required.

ADDITIONAL: Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record required. Self-motivated in setting goals for receivables and streamlining processes.
