SUMMARY Established golf course in West Georgia area is seeking greenkeepers. Under the supervision of the superintendent or assistant superintendent, perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance; do skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small hand-powered equipment including blowers & weed eaters; and perform work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders, and gang mowers. Preferred candidates will have 1-2 years related experience and be familiar with the game of golf.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned whether or not in this job description, at any time, by the Golf Course Superintendent, or designee.

Supports the goals and objectives of the Company - must have professional, service- oriented attitude at all times.

Follows safe work practices at all times.

Must adhere to schedule, report to work on time, be well-groomed and wear a clean uniform.

Operates mowers and string trimmers in mowing greens, aprons, tees, and trimming around trees, fence lines, banks, and hillside; edge cart paths; edges, rakes, and maintains sand bunkers.

Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis, reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately.

Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance areas.

Project work - assists in the construction of new green, tees, and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds tees, greens, and fairways.

Excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools or trencher, repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems.

Assists Chemical Technician in applying chemicals and fertilizers, as needed.

Performs spot watering and mowing of greens, tees, fairways and rough.

Keeps ground and shop area clean and organized.

Aerate and top dress greens, tees, and fairways.

Mark the course for cart control, replace worn or lost ropes and signs, and may mark hazard and drop areas.

Sets tee markers and cups, maintains ball washers, replaces tees, towels, and flags when needed; sands and seeds tee and drop area divots, and cleans flowerbeds.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job occasionally has supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language/Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly and be able to understand and follow verbal instructions. Possess excellent teamwork skills, maintain positive working relationships, promote a cooperative, courteous, friendly, accommodating, and respectful attitude towards members, guests, and colleagues.

Must be able to work extended hours, to include weekends and holidays as necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, stoop, bend, climb, balance, push, shove, lift, carry and move objects that can weigh approximately 50 -100 lbs. This can occur throughout the day. The employee must be able to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions (wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat) and must be able to adapt to the climate with marked changes in temperature.
