Job Description: Distribution Lead
Job Type: Full-time, Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Job Overview: The Distribution Lead is responsible for the shipping, dispatching, receiving and management of goods within the organization. Its primary objectives therefore center on timeliness, efficiency and cost effectiveness. The Team Leader will be required to oversee staff within their work area to ensure they are performing their duties in accordance within company standards and policy.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing the dispatching, shipping & receiving with the highest level of accuracy
- Ensure that all orders are dispatched in a timely and cost-effective manner, to correctly receive inventory into the distribution center and to maintain the physical inventory.
- Provide leadership and direction to employees / associates
- Oversee day-to-day operation of the assigned team
- Set clear team goals; coach and develop team members
- Complete relevant documentation as required, maintain an accurate record keeping system, and prepare all relevant reports and data as required by management.
- Develop and maintain efficient work processes and procedures
- Ensure team members are trained and follow safety best practices
- Work as a liaison between employees and management to create healthy communication.
- Delegate tasks and make sure shipping deadlines are met timely and in accordance with client’s specifications.
- Identify personnel related issues including but not limited to conflicts and incidents of misconduct and communicate with supervisor / management to address.
- Notify of any incident / accident immediately to supervisor / management
- Conduct cycle counts
- Make sure employees are following specifications and are working with high quality standards
- Discover training needs and provide guidance
- Coordinate loading of FedEx trailers on a daily basis
- Make sure employees are utilizing and/or operating equipment in a safely and efficient manner
- Maintain schedule and prioritize work load
- Monitor and maintain inventory zone board
Required Skills
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to work without direct supervision, and analyze and problem solve in a high-volume and fast paced work environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Proven work experience as a team leader
- Knowledge of performance metrics
- Computer and software knowledge including Microsoft Word, Excel and email
- Organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to make decisions, lead, and train people
- Experience using scanners and other logistics technologies
- High attention to detail and accuracy
Required Education and Experience
- GED or High School Diploma
- Warehousing or other logistics qualifications preferred
- Performance Driven Skills
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position. Hours of work are subject to change according to operational needs
Physical Activities
- This role requires a high level of mobility, occasional heavy lifting and the ability to cope with processes requiring concentration and attention to detail as well as computer related activities.
