Job Overview: A Maintenance technician works alongside fully qualified maintenance technicians to learn the skills of the trade. As a maintenance apprentice, your responsibilities are to assist with a variety of duties, including installing equipment, maintaining mechanical systems, and repairing machines. Apprentice mechanic provides troubleshooting, preventive and demand maintenance work on a variety of equipment and systems. Maintenance technicians work in industrial manufacturing and safely perform mechanical and electrical duties to keep machines, equipment, or the structure of a facility in repair. This program consists of on-the-job hands-on training alongside the maintenance manager and supervisor.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintenance and repair of Warehouse equipment, conveyor systems and building maintenance.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on mechanical handling equipment (conveyers, fiber machines, compressors, pallet jacks, sweepers, etc.).
- Repair mechanical damage and replace defective parts, which may include welding, brazing, and soldering.
- Repairs are made to mechanical handling equipment, racking, and to other warehouse structural components.
- Familiar with mechanical hand tools, and with measuring (tape measures, micrometers, drill gauges, etc.).
- Dismantle machinery and remove/replace defective parts.
- Maintain inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
- Train production workers on routine preventative maintenance.
- Comply with OSHA Safety and Health regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Reports all accidents, incidents, and injuries in a timely manner.
- Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
Required Skills:
A maintenance technician assists in routine maintenance procedures and helps troubleshoot and any mechanical or electrical problems should they arise with the manufacturing processes and supporting equipment and systems in the facility. His or her day-to-day tasks can vary greatly based on what needs attention at the time.

Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fiber dust or fiber particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration and noise. Position Type / Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position. Overtime may be required at the beginning or end of shift. Hours of work and / or shifts are subject to change based on the needs of the operation. Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as business dictates.
Required Education and Experience:
- GED or Highschool diploma
- Associate degree a plus
- Prior experience a plus.
