What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant II position at Fairgrounds - New Orleans, LA?
Essential Functions –
- Safeguards all property assets.
- Assists with month end closings.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Performing inventories and researching Inventory variances.
- Assists with the accounting and financial reporting functions for pari-mutuels, video poker, historic racing machines, and slots.
- Balance applicable gaming taxes (i.e. Foreign 1042S and State Withholding)
- Reviews daily reports and fee remittance.
- Completes assigned projects that involve Revenue Audit or other Finance departments.
- Manages record retention and form control for sensitive documents.
- Helps in overseeing the issuance and tracking of sensitive forms to ensure proper control of documents.
- Assist the Revenue Audit team and Revenue Audit Supervisor with projects.
- Complies with established company policies and procedures pertaining to the financial area.
- Assists with internal, external and regulatory financial audit efforts as assigned.
- Ensures compliance with existing and established company policies and procedures pertaining to GAAP.
- Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Education and/or Experience: BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, MBA or CPA preferred with 3-5 years’ experience. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience applying these to business process. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common documentation. Ability to respond to common inquiries from leadership, regulatory agencies or members of the staff. Ability to write and present information to management in a reasonable manner. Ability to perform normal mathematical computations in regards to the implementation of current duties. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables. Experience working in gaming industry is preferred. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast -pace setting at times. Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
Licenses/Certificates: Must be 21 years or older. Must be able to obtain a Louisiana Gaming License and Racing License.
