We are seeking a highly skilled Configuration Management Technical Specialist to join our dynamic team on a 7-month hybrid contract basis. This pivotal role, located in Raleigh, NC, will focus on developing, implementing, and overseeing robust policies and procedures to maintain the integrity of our configuration management processes, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and establish the configuration management system, creating and maintaining a comprehensive configuration model for all configuration items (CIs).
- Lead the planning and execution of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) implementation, ensuring it meets the evolving requirements of both IT and the business.
- Document and standardize operating procedures for service configuration management while developing a training program for stakeholders and team members.
- Collaborate closely with business leaders to maximize the value derived from the configuration management system.
- Oversee the activities of the configuration management team, ensuring adherence to established standards and processes.
- Chair the Configuration Control Board (CCB) to authorize and oversee changes to the configuration management system and its infrastructure.
- Monitor the accuracy and quality of data within the CMDB, tracking the lifecycle of configuration items from requisition to retirement.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of configuration management best practices.
- Proficiency in utilizing ITIL and CMDB tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Capability to document processes effectively and train team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT Configuration Management, with hands-on experience in CMDB tools and processes.
- Certifications in ITIL, ITIL Service Transition, and/or Configuration Management Databases are highly desirable.
- Proven experience leading configuration management initiatives within large organizations, preferably in the public sector.
