M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center, located on the East Bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, is looking for an engaged Nursing Educational Specialist to assist the Periop Team! Are you ready to join this exciting group of people?
The Nursing Education Specialist advises and participates in the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of learning for assigned groups or departments. The NES functions as educator, consultant, coach, and liaison regarding learning theory and the competence development of staff.
This is a 0.6FTE (48 hours every two weeks) position working 2 days in the office and one day giving active education on the floor to staff. The NES will work every Monday and every other Friday. Responsibilities Job Description
- Assess the learning needs of individuals, groups, and departments.
- Plan and design learning approaches to meet the identified needs.
- Offer learning opportunities to meet the identified needs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the learning opportunities.
- Demonstrate ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served
- Develop a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.
- Design orientation schedules and continuing education for staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- One year as a direct patient care RN
- MN RN License
- BLS
Preferred:
- More than three years as a direct patient care RN.
- Two or more years as a preceptor.
- AANC certification in specialty.
