Job Summary
This role involves supporting surgical procedures by preparing operating rooms, arranging instruments for surgeons, and maintaining a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operating rooms.
Responsibilities
- Surgical Preparation: Supply necessary instruments, suture, and specialty items.
- Aseptic Technique: Maintain aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
- Specimen Handling: Ensure accurate identification and handling of specimens.
- Sterile Count: Count all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
- Supply Management: Assure availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
- Clinical Judgment: Modify clinical interventions based on population served.
- Culture Development: Nurture a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
- Surgeon Support: Anticipate the surgeon's needs.
- Emergency Response: Follow appropriate action in emergency situations.
Qualifications
- Education: Complete one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant, LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant, or Surgical Technologist training.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers or ability to obtain by hire date.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- Certification: AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire.
- Experience: 1-3 years of surgical tech experience.
