What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physician Assistant - General Surgery position at Fairview Health Services?
Fairview Health Services is seeking a General Surgery Physician Assistant to join the General Surgery team. In this role, you will work independently in a supportive team setting at M Health Fairview Southdale in Edina, Minnesota and associated locations. You will be working closely with a well-established community General Surgery group and an experienced group of Advanced Practice Providers (APP), caring for patients with a diverse range of general, breast, surgical oncology, reflux, abdominal wall reconstruction, colon surgery and bariatric disorders.
Practice Details:
- Surgical patient care for a wide variety of conditions such as breast, oncologic, colon, foregut, complex hernia, endocrine, and bariatric in addition to general surgery
- Outpatient care for post-operative patients, and non-operative patient procedural needs
- Inpatient care including: Admissions and consults, daily rounding, operative assist, and discharge planning and education
- Leadership within the multi-professional team caring for your patients and within the provider group
- 1.0 FTE
- Monday – Friday with rotating weekends; hours dependent on patient care needs
- Flexible schedule
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant training program
- BC/BE through the NCCPA
- Licensed or ability to obtain licensure through Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
- Ability to obtain and /or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota
- Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
- Ability to obtain ATLS within 6 months of hire
- 3 years experience in a Surgical practice as a PA is preferred

The posted pay range is for a 1.0 FTE. The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Positions with the same min/max are flat rate jobs based on a 1.0 FTE schedule. Compensation plans based on production can allow for higher pay than the range posted.
