Overview

We are seeking a rehabilitation supervisor to lead our physical therapy and occupational therapy acute care, inpatient teams at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital!

 

M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital has a Rehab department consisting of PTs, OTs, SLPs, schedulers, and rehab aides. These teams serve patients of a variety of diagnoses throughout the hospital, including ortho, neuro, general med, general surgery, complex medical, cardiac, and oncology.

 

The supervisor will be responsible with leading clinical initiatives; hiring, onboarding, and developing employees; managing daily staffing to volume and long-term staffing needs; conducting employee performance management; supporting customer experience work; partnering with other hospital department leaders on process improvement; and facilitating employee engagement. 

  • FTE 1.0, authorized for 80 hours per pay period.
  • A portion of FTE in direct patient care and a portion in administrative/supervisory work.

M Health Fairview Rehabilitation offers a broad range of services that serve patients across 10 acute-care hospitals, 3 post-acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs.

 

As an academic health system with residency and fellowship programs and a rehab-focused clinical quality team, we have a collaborative culture that is centered on learning with an emphasis on evidence based, patient-centered care.. Rehab’s continuing education program offers 40 continuing education courses per year at no cost to employees and further supports numerous external CE courses each year.

Responsibilities Job Description

Financial and Productivity Management

manages day to day staffing to achieve productivity targets, schedule utilization and show rate Staffing – identify volume needs and staffs appropriately

Understanding of financial metrics including monthly reporting and contributes to success of department financials

Responsible for day to day operations including but not limited to p-card oversite, supply ordering to stay within budget targets

 

Manages Performance

Conducts annual performance reviews with direct reports, working collaboratively with director on appropriate ratings/increases

Provides direct reports ongoing feedback and coaching throughout the year

Conducts crucial conversations

Cascades goal from work plan with assigned staff

Collaborates with director on formal Corrective Action issues

 

Builds a culture that engages and excites

Conducts employee rounding

Recognizes employees for their contributions

Manages up senior leadership

Leads and develops team employee engagement plan

 

Staff Development

Participates in the interviewing/hiring process

Coordinates and directs new employee orientation

Facilitates goal development and ongoing review of achieving goals

Support educational plan for staff development

Serves as a resource to answer questions, offers available resources/educational opportunities

Manages relationships with students/student coordinator

 

Demonstrates knowledge of department operations

HR/Payroll systems management

Facilitates department meetings

Process improvement knowledge and facilitation

Understanding of patient scheduling process/system

Supports Clinical initiatives

Staffing template management

Management of patient and employee incident reporting

 

Provider Alignment

Outreach and relationship development

Provider thank you

Point of contact for physicians and questions

 

Patients, families, and customers first

Ensures excellent patient experience in areas on accountability

Manage complaint of patients’ point of service

Advance significant complaints forward

 

Program development

Assists director in identifying opportunities for program development

Implements new programs in collaboration with director and CQL team

Provides patient care in their clinical area


Qualifications

Required

Active MN licensure in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy 

One year experience in physical therapy or occupational therapy clinician role 

Active Basic Life Support Certification

 

Preferred

Advanced degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy 

3 years experience
