Position Summary:
The Supervisor is responsible for maintaining quality patient care through effective management of patient care activities during their assigned shift. In the absence of the Patient Care Director (PCD), Chief Nursing Officer, and/or designee, the Supervisor is responsible for administrative decisions and appropriate implementation of protocols and notification of the administrator on call.
This positions clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age and type of patient population served. They ensure that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit’s standard of care. The supervisor demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and GRH, remaining flexible to changing systems and is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice, treating patients, families and all members of the healthcare team with respect and consideration. The Supervisor has been identified as a nurse who exhibits exceptional interpersonal qualities, customer service, clinical excellence, and leadership and will monitor the activities related to the delivery of exceptional patient care, effectively collaborating with the multidisciplinary team while focusing on patient census, acuity, and staff assignments.
The RN Supervisor Position Description is inclusive of a staff RN and will complete appropriate clinical competencies on an annual basis. In addition, supervisors agree to take on additional duties in leadership development, customer service, employee satisfaction, and patient throughput.
Education and Experience:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Minnesota.
- Must have current CPR/BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC and NRP certifications. Successful completion of the HICS training and a leadership course.
- Possess a minimum of 2 years Acute Care nursing experience, exhibits effective patient management experience and a strong interpersonal and leadership qualities.
- Educates and actively demonstrates collaboration and principles of supervision.
- Demonstrates leadership, understands professional boundaries, possesses strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication.
- Possesses initiative and good judgment. Consistently demonstrates and supports GRH Mission and behavioral standards.
- Possess knowledge of growth and development; specifically, an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process. An understanding of the range of treatment needed by patients of all ages in relation to growth and development processes to include neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Must be able to meet facility required physical job requirements.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation decisions are made based off of several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification and licensure as well as internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of their hourly range.
Hourly Range:
RN (AD) $40.76 - $62.67
RN (BSN) $41.76 - $64.22
