Clinical Director
Looking for a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Provider (LSATP), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to lead the Clinical team in a women's residential treatment program based in Abingdon VA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Oversees admissions and discharge processes, collaborates to determine clinical necessity (including preauthorization, admittance, continuation, and discharge) for individuals in FHMC programs to ensure accuracy of treatment placements.
- Leads or delegates and oversees consumer treatment team meetings as indicated per program criteria, reviews or completes service plan reviews at intervals consistent with program requirements / expectations, and reviews or completes service authorization requests with external payors when indicated to determine if program requirements continue to be met.
- Responsible for supervision plan of clinical staff.
- Supervises all components of behavioral health programs for consumers of care.
- Adheres to established standards of practice within scope of practice for LMHP.
- Supervises or directly provides behavioral health care services to participants during all hours of program operation per program. Is responsible for primary and back-up on-call calendar including communicating schedule and contact information to the departments that create work schedule calendars.

- In conjunction with the Executive Team and Risk Management Department, supervises health and safety management of treatment programs.
- Through review of medical information and recommendations, and in collaboration with medical, case management, and other treatment team members when indicated, ensures stability of individuals being admitted or seeking admission to residential program.
- Supervises and/or conducts pre-admission interviews with individuals seeking admission for programs for which this is indicated.
- Supervises and monitors discharge planning processes.
- Supervises development of person-centered individualized service plans in collaboration with the client and with his/her family when appropriate (with resident’s consent), assesses and documents progress with goals and objectives, and revises service plans as needed.
- Supervises and maintains accurate, current, and complete documentation of services provided in compliance with agency, program, licensing, policies, procedures, standards, and expectations.
- Supervises coordination of all services for clients including assurance of active recipient involvement in all aspects of care coordination in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders and partnering community agencies.
- Supervises, assesses, and documents client progress in conjunction with treatment team.
- Supervises, initiates, and implements person-centered individualized service plans and related information.
- Supervises, encourages, and monitors participants in daily programming, participates in activities with residents when needed, and communicates problems, issues, or concerns to the treatment team.
- Assists clinical staff with daily program scheduling by supervising clients in assigned activities when indicated.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures of Fairview and the rules and regulations and applicable state laws, and observes expectations of the employee handbook and the code of ethics of the LMHP’s profession.
- Performs relevant job duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Functions as a liaison between clinical and other departments for CQI, QA, and culture improvement and backs up other team members when indicated.
- Works with other staff and departments, including with Program Director and Executive Team to ensure the appropriate level of consumer participation (census, etc.) to meet program requirements (quality of services, documentation, staffing, training, etc.)
- Works in conjunction with QA department on CQI initiatives and leads and/or oversees implementation of CQI plan.
- Participates and/or leads meetings with stakeholders when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Provider (LSATP), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Supervisory and team building skills
- Current valid driver's license and minimum qualifications
- Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with other agency personnel.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Ability to intervene in crisis situations and support staff in navigating these crises successfully.
- Willingness to work flexible hours when needed.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to develop and present effective briefs and presentations.
- Certification in CPR and first aid.
- Training in behavioral intervention according to state and stakeholder standards upon hire and retraining at least on an annual basis.
- Successfully complete background checks prior to employment and ongoing.
- Successfully complete drug screening prior to employment and random drug screenings while employed at Fairview.
- If any legal intervention or arrest occurs with the staff member for any reason, including traffic violations, the incident must be reported to the staff member’s supervisor via email or other written format immediately, or within 24 hours of the offense at the first available opportunity to provide such communication.
