LOCATION : Fairview High School
POSITION TITLE : Special Education Teacher-Learning Support
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's degree
- Pennsylvania certification : In Special Education (N-12) or (7-12)
- Experience in transition plan writing within IEP's preferred
REPORTS TO : High School Principal / Supervisor of Special Education
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
Track, schedule, write, and implement special education student Individual Education Plans (IEPs) according to PDE regulations reflecting Pennsylvania state standardsTrack, schedule and write Re-Evaluation Reports for special education students according to PDE regulationsDemonstrate a variety of teaching methods and techniques that motivate students to perform at their optimum ability levelDisplay skill in working with regular education teachers in the area of differentiated instruction so that special education needs can be addressed in this environmentPartner with general education staff to provide needed adaptations and / or accommodations to the general education curriculumMaintain frequent, positive written and verbal contacts with parents, teachers and administrators regarding program issues and student progressParticipate in school-wide committees fostering school safety and character developmentParticipate in professional organizations and professional staff development activities to remain current and to ensure continued growth in the field of special educationDemonstrate appropriate use of classroom management techniquesCommunicate sound behavior management strategies to regular education teachers and parents via in-services, open house, individual meetings, and printed materialWork cooperatively with all special education and regular education staff and paraprofessionals to provide quality programming for our special education students addressing individual needs in all learning environmentsAdhere to all district policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism at all timesObtain and maintain Handle with Care trainingIntegrate technology into the classroom on a daily basis in a 1 : 1 environment.EVALUATION : Annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation and F.E.A.
