Job Description:
We are looking for a self-motivated, creative, and compassionate Activities Director to work with our Long-Term Care residents at Fairview Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing.
The preferred candidate will report to the Administrator and will have prior experience administrating social and recreational programs in a healthcare setting. This person will be responsible for creating and carrying out a diverse calendar of activities designed to meet our residents’ mental, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Plan, organize, develop, implement, and direct all operations of the activities department
- Create and distribute a monthly activity calendar with a variety of activities and social events that provide opportunities for socialization, exercise, relaxation, entertainment, and growth
- Assess resident needs and formulate activities accordingly
- Schedule in-house entertainment and outings for residents
- Arrange safe transportation and appropriate supervision for external activities
- Establish and maintain relationships with residents, families, caregivers, volunteers, entertainers, and other community members
- Handle all resident concerns in a caring, calm, and professional manner
- Attend and document care plan meetings with residents and their families
- Manage staff and staff schedules
- Take on other special projects and duties, as assigned
- Oversee Activities Assistants
- Preferred candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in activities for seniors in a healthcare setting
- A Bachelor's degree or activities certificate is preferred
- Creative, self-motivated, and dependable
- Energetic, caring, and excellent with encouraging others
- Able to connect with people of all ages and walks of life
- Excellent organizational skills and time management
- Strong attention to detail
- Works well under pressure and able to simultaneously prioritize, coordinate, and maintain multiple projects
- Able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and co-workers
- Familiarity with social media and privacy protocols
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check, and physical paid for by Fairview Senior Living
